Well...... maybe it was mine.

I got dragged into this multiverse crap. Spiders were being hunted and killed, across every world, by this freak family of lifeforce vampires. Kill one, and they'd just come back in a new body.

Us spider clones, we realized - their souls were going into cloned bodies. So they were functionally unkillable until we stopped them at the source.

[A pause. He lets out a shaky breath.]

I saw Ben again. It was Ben from another universe, but - he was just like mine. I mean-- of course he was.

[ gently squeezes his hand. ]

...I see. Your reality—and those around it, apparently—seems especially fraught, no?

[markofkaine]

There's always some bullshit happening that puts the world in danger, but it usually doesn't extend to every reality.

[I mean as far as he knows. He doesn't live Dr Strange's life]

...We infiltrated the world where they were producing these clones, but. Ben... he gave his life to destroy it. I had to watch him die, in front of my own eyes this time.

I went nuts after that. Transformed and went for their stronghold to kill them all. I took down the biggest guy at least.

Probably more because that monster inside me was one of three cosmic totems they needed for some ritual that might've destroyed us all. And I just walked it into their hands in a fit of vengeance.

[Sighs. Hopefully they didn't get their hands on the other two? Although one of them was like. A baby.]

[ well. he could, now that he says it he realizes it. theoretically. there is a way to do this, it just might have a horrible aftereffect on Kaine.

It's fine. I'm not giving up on finding a cure even if I can't wish for it. I might still have years ahead of me, even like this.

[He does not fully believe this but he wants to.]

[ It'd be so much worse if he knew that his mom created clones AND can heal degenerative diseases. So much worse. Much crazy.

He could maybe... ask the Alteans that he's not going to murder now. If he ever ends up back there. ]

I do have other thoughts as to what may help you, but they could be moot depending on what happens here. Still, know that I will not give up on you either.
