Kaine gasps softly, his chest rising and falling against his touch - before caressing Lotor's neck with his callused, cankerous hand. Trailing up to trace the lobe of his delicate elf ears.]

[ It's a bit funny, isn't it, being of a warrior race and not having much to show for it—not without lack of trying, over ten thousand years. There's hardly any imperfections in his skin (and, well, the ones he does have that are noticeable Kaine is probably already intimately familiar with) so his skin is especially soft to the touch.

His claws are not, though, and it's almost a reminder when his fingers twitch and—he doesn't want to shred Kaine's nice new outfit in the excitement of being in love, so he's pulling his hand back into his own lap. ]

...maybe this reward should wait until later.

[His breathing hitches, but - yeah if his nice new clothes got shredded in the name of hanky panky, Vil might for real murder him. Which reminds him...]

Even with his eyes closed, Lotor would still be able to tell the sound of footsteps on grass, to dirt, to sand. The distant roll of waves grow louder, along with the crackle of fire.

Kaine sets his feet down on the beach, taking care that Lotor is steady.]

[ The care he takes now might get his heart to thump a little harder. It does not go unnoticed.

But—a vow. Here. He hasn't opened his eyes (ignore my icon ok) but he can grasp a pretty solid idea.

He promised to be good. To do good. With him. That's his point of reference, here.

A pause. Then: ]

What will you ask of me?

[The direction of Kaine's voice shifts as he moves in front of Lotor and lowers himself(?)]

A vow that I will cherish you for as long as I'm given in this life. And a vow that you won't forget what I meant to you for the rest of yours.

...Will you open your eyes?

[What he will see is Kaine, on one knee, presenting him with a ring. The band is jet black, and the jewels that decorate its side like white, glittering stars turn purple when viewed at certain angles.

All around, bonfires are lit across the beach - somehow burning in bright pink, instead of Earth orange - flickering against the sea like beacons. Each one, a symbol of commitment and conviction to their vows.]

[ You know. He did know something like this was coming. They were for all intents and purposes prison engaged already.

But he really did not expect this. The effort that was put in. Every little detail. The earnest words. How much love could be stored in this little ("little") human who has so many raw and vulnerable emotions and despite knowing the darkest poison of his heart is still here—it's just a stream of fuzzy emotions, half of which he doesn't know what to do with.

The ring, the man, the beach—all top contenders suddenly for being the most beautiful thing he's ever seen. And he's seen so many stellar nurseries across the vast universe. ]

[ He's holding out his hand. ]

In Earth tradition-- [he speaks, as he slides the ring onto Lotor's fourth finger,] the ring symbolizes an unbroken bond. A circle without end. It goes on the left hand - the one closest to the heart.

[Wait. Thinks.]

I... don't know if that's true for Galra physiology. Still.

Normally this is where I'd ask you to take my hand in marriage, but seeing as you asked first...

[ Ah. It's the same finger as that red string. It feels like an eternity ago now. Pre-Kaine finding out era.

He's caught up in studying it, lifting his hand up to admire the way it reflects light. ]

I did. Without much ceremony, even, which I'm glad you've gone ahead with. [ HE'S SO PROUD... LOOK AT YOU. ] So, you asked me for a vow—and I will ask you again properly...

[Kaine stands, and places a matching ring into Lotor's hands. In close proximity, the jewels glow with faint magic.

His eyes shine with emotion as he waits to hear the words. Expression near trembling. But he won't interrupt, not before he's asked.]

[ What a nice touch... ring in one hand, he's reaching for Kaine's hand with the other. ]

Kaine—similarly, I believe that I may call you the love of my life.

[ As long as it is and as long as it will be. ]

Will you marry me?

[Kaine's fingers curl around his in a swell of irrepressible joy. He can't even suppress the smile taking over his face as he tries to blink away the moisture in his eyes.]

Yes. I will space marry you.

[ a...ah... he's cute. ]

If I'm being honest... I'm not certain of the requirements of a space marriage... presumably the act must happen in space. Regardless, I vow to keep your love next to my heart until the day that I die.

[No YOU'RE CUTE. Kaine can't help but snort a small laugh]

I... think the idea at the heart of space marriage is. More of an interplanetary bridge of cultures.

But I wouldn't mind seeing space one day.

[ noted. he will endeavour to make it so that you get to witness the prettiest parts of space with him somehow. ]

There's magic in the rings, apparently. Just a little, to make'em glow when the other's nearby. They should be sturdy enough to stay intact under pressure - I asked for'em to be built tough. Seein' the kind of lives we live, and all...
